White Rock Lake Weekly: ‘Moonlady’ retires from publication

‘Moonlady’ retires from publication
From staff reports

Eastlake resident Amy Martin, known by many as the Moonlady, retired in December 2013 after 15 years as editor of Moonlady News. The popular alternative news service is credited with creating a North Texas community of more than 3000 from followers of alternative health, faith and philosophy, as well as natural and organic practices in home and garden. “Alternative is becoming mainstream,” Martin said, adding her role became less vital once social networking such as Facebook arose. Martin retired a year prior in December 2012 from Earth Rhythms, her nonprofit that staged seasonal celebrations for 20 years, including the acclaimed SolstiCelebrations, which twice attracted more than 2,500 to celebrate at White Rock Lake.

The versatile journalist will continue as senior comedy critic for TheaterJones and member of The Dallas Morning News’ Texas Faith blog. She will publish a book on alternative approaches to poison ivy in March.
